The Yacht

Thirty-two meters of ironwood, teak, and purposeful design

Nataraja was conceived by Yann Martinie de Maisonneuve, co-founder of Pacific High, who understood from years in these waters that the most memorable Indonesian charters happen aboard vessels that fit the landscape rather than dominate it. At 32m, this traditional Phinisi is precisely sized for the archipelago: small enough to anchor where larger yachts cannot reach, large enough to carry eight guests in genuine comfort.

Her superstructure is ironwood and teak throughout. Both species matter here. Ironwood, one of the densest and most rot-resistant timbers in the world, forms the structural backbone. Teak lines the deck and interior spaces, weathering beautifully in the tropical sun. Together they give Nataraja the warmth of a vessel that belongs to these seas.

Nataraja sails three distinct Indonesian seasons. Raja Ampat claims her from November through April, when calm seas and peak marine life fill the Coral Triangle. Komodo National Park becomes her territory from May through September, the dry season when mantas gather in Manta Alley and visibility reaches 30 meters. April and October, the shoulder months, open the Banda Sea, including the fabled crossing from Ambon to Raja Ampat through waters where the spice trade once defined the world economy.

The vessel carries a 260HP engine for passages and 7 knots cruising speed on average. Two generators, 25 KVA and 33 KVA, run the onboard systems including the WiFi when in range of shore signal and a watermaker producing 5,000 liters per day. The crew of 11, including one cruise director who doubles as a certified dive instructor, provides a ratio of more than one staff member per guest.

What Nataraja enables is access. Her draft puts her into lagoons, bays, and anchorages that attract no other charter traffic. Guests who have been on larger vessels in these waters often remark that Nataraja reaches places they could only see from a distance before.

The Experience

A Day Aboard Nataraja

Mornings on Nataraja begin with the sound of coffee grinding in the galley. Guests who want early water arrive at the dive platform to find equipment staged and the cruise director already suited up. Divers go. Snorkelers follow to the shallower reef. Non-swimmers take the tender to a beach the captain has been visiting for years. By the time the sun reaches height, the foredeck dining table is set for a meal that the chef has shaped around whatever came in fresh and whatever the group requested the night before.

Afternoons drift. The chill lounge at the aft of the main deck is exactly what the name promises: plush loungers, the espresso machine on low hum, sea visible in every direction. The paddleboards come off the deck. Kayaks circle the boat. At dusk, the bartender starts on cocktails as the sky over the islands goes from orange to purple. With 11 crew for a maximum of 8 guests, nothing requires asking twice. The crew notices preferences before they become requests.

Accommodation

Three Cabins, Each Its Own World

The aft Master Cabin is Nataraja's most generous space: king-size bed, a single for a child or companion, and an extra berth that converts to a sofa when not needed. A private door opens directly to the swimming platform, which means the first and last thing guests touch each day is the sea itself. The front cabin mirrors the layout with equal warmth, its convertible child's bed making it ideal for families. The midship Deluxe Cabin offers a queen that splits to twin singles, suited to friends or solo travelers wanting their own beds.

Every cabin has its own ensuite bathroom stocked with organic toiletries, the kind guests notice because they actually work. Air conditioning keeps each space comfortable through Indonesian nights. Sustainable soaps, conditioner, and soft towels are replenished daily. The crew who service the cabins are the same crew who know where guests like their coffee and how they take their eggs.

The anchor holds, the drinks are cold, and the only question anyone is asking is whether to watch the stars or dive under them.

We had an amazing time on board Nataraja. We tailor made our own itinerary, which was wonderful because we were really able to create an experience that was perfect for us. The highlight has to be swimming with manta rays.
