Dunia Baru
Seven years to build, the only BKI-classified phinisi in Indonesian waters.
The Experience
A Day Aboard Dunia Baru
The open family-style galley, with a center island and teppanyaki grill, is unlike anything on other yachts. It was designed to bring guests together at meal times, to share stories of the day and plan the next one. The chef handles fragrant Indonesian dishes and Western cuisine with equal confidence. Guests dine at the artfully crafted salon table, around the teppanyaki grill, or outside under the stars on the aft deck.
After dark, attention shifts to the deck. The carefully planned lighting and miles of LED strips along the hull bring out each carved detail of the joinery. Nine subwoofers run on the integrated Sonos platform throughout the yacht, scaled for evenings on deck or quieter listening in the saloon. The engineering systems are built to a standard that matches the rest of the boat: this is a yacht where ambient comfort holds across all fourteen guests, all eighteen crew, and any kind of weather Indonesia produces.
The Vessel
Technical Specifications
BKI Classification
Dunia Baru is the only wooden vessel in Indonesia to achieve BKI (Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia) classification, the equivalent of Lloyd's Register for steel vessels, confirming that her hull construction, stability, fire safety systems, and emergency equipment meet international standards for extended ocean voyages.
Accommodation
The Cabins
The full-beam master suite occupies the upper deck with expansive windows, twin vanities, an oversized shower, and a private aft deck with a daybed for reading or stargazing. Below, six ensuite cabins are fitted with Tempur-Pedic beds, original Indonesian artwork, and immaculate teak finishes. Natural light filters through the portholes. All areas are fully air-conditioned with fresh-air handling systems designed for a good night's sleep at sea.
As the sun dissolves into the Banda Sea, the only sounds are ice in glasses and stories of the day's discoveries.
The Team
Meet the Crew
Eighteen crew on board. Three engineers have been with Dunia Baru since construction. The cruise director is a PADI-certified dive instructor. Together the crew hails from five islands and speaks seven regional languages.
