The Journey

Chasing the Perfect Wave Across Indonesia's Surf Corridor

Board in Bali and head east to where the Indian Ocean funnels its energy into some of the most consistent, uncrowded surf on the planet. Warm up on Lembongan's playful breaks, then push overnight to southwest Sumbawa, where Yo-Yos, Scar Reef, and Super Suck fire in conditions that would close out most reef breaks elsewhere.

The yacht anchors in sheltered bays while professional surf guides assess conditions at dawn. When the sets arrive, RIB rides shuttle the group directly to the lineup. The return leg swings through Lombok's Ekas Bay and Senggigi: two very different waves on the same island, both far emptier than anything near Bali. Suitable for confident intermediates through to experienced surfers comfortable on powerful reef.

Surf charters are flexible by design. We watch the swell forecast a week out, position the yacht where the waves will be best, and keep guides on board who can read each break. Yo-Yos at six feet and Scar Reef and Super Suck both fire.

Guided by Those Who Know These Waters

A surf charter lives and dies on reading the swell, and Sumbawa has enough breaks that the right call changes by the day and the wind. These charters run on Dunia Baru, with surf guides who know which spot fires and when. Tell us the ability in your group, all chargers or a mix, and we will plan a week that keeps everyone in good waves.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What surfing ability is needed for this itinerary?

The route covers breaks suitable for confident intermediates through to experienced surfers comfortable in powerful reef waves. Beginners are welcome at spots like Lembongan and Tropical Beach, though some prior surfing experience helps get the most from the Sumbawa days.

When is the best time to run this safari?

April through October covers the dry season and the most reliable swell window for Sumbawa and Lombok. May through August tends to produce the most consistent groundswell. We track swell models closely and can advise on timing as your dates approach.

How does the yacht get guests to the breaks?

The yacht anchors in a protected bay close to the break, and a RIB ferries guests directly to the lineup. This means you paddle out fresh rather than after a long trudge from shore, and can return to the boat to rest and recharge between sessions.

Can the route adapt if the swell isn't cooperating?

Absolutely. This is the core advantage of a private surf charter. If Sumbawa is flat, guides can redirect the yacht to alternative spots. The itinerary above is a sample routing; the actual plan is built around swell forecasts and adjusted daily as conditions develop.
