The Yacht

A teak-and-ironwood family adventurer that goes wherever coconuts grow.

Rascal started as a clear brief: build a phinisi that could reach the corners of Indonesia most vessels never see, and make life aboard genuinely comfortable once you get there. Konjo master craftsmen in Sulawesi shaped her hull from teak and ironwood in 2016, drawing on the same hereditary boatbuilding tradition that has produced Indonesia's finest sailing vessels for generations.

At 30 meters, Rascal sits in a practical sweet spot. Her draft of 2.4 meters grants access to anchorages and lagoons that stop larger vessels in their tracks. Her 7.4-meter beam keeps the interior generous without sacrificing the nimbleness that lets the captain take guests where a 50-meter phinisi cannot go. She is classified for coastal passages and open-ocean transits alike.

The interiors read as a floating designer beach house rather than a conventional charter yacht. Natural teak flooring, high ceilings, and large windows carry natural light into every space. The east-meets-west design language gives each of the five cabins its own character while maintaining a consistent aesthetic. There is an indoor bar stocked with Rascal's own-label rum, an alfresco dining deck with a reliable sea breeze, and a 1,280-square-foot roof deck built for sunsets and sundowners.

Menus are drawn from Bali's Watercress restaurant, which means fresh Asian fusion cuisine using produce sourced at each port. Proof and Company mixologists designed the cocktail list. Rascal's kitchen and service team execute this daily for groups up to 10, with a crew of 11 aboard to keep service personal and unhurried.

For water time, Rascal carries two Hypalon RIB tenders, a full diving setup led by a PADI-certified instructor, kayaks, SUPs, waterskis, a wakeboard, and a banana boat. The rule has never changed since 2016: if coconuts grow there, Rascal can take you.

The Experience

A Day Aboard Rascal

Mornings start with the smell of coffee and salt water. The PADI instructor has already checked the conditions: if the current is right for Manta Point, the tenders are loaded and ready by 7 a.m. Other guests take breakfast on the alfresco deck as the anchor comes up, the teak warm underfoot, the horizon doing its thing. Each of the 10 crew has one job: make sure 10 guests feel looked after, not managed.

Afternoons open up depending on where Rascal sits for the day. A village visit on a rarely-reached island. Kayaks through a mangrove passage that opens into a natural pool. Cocktails, mixed from Rascal's own rum, appearing on the roof deck as the light changes. The chef puts dinner on the table as the sky goes dark, following Watercress menus that change with what was available at the last port. With 11 crew for up to 10 guests, the rhythm of the day bends to match what guests actually want, not a schedule.

Accommodation

Five Rooms, Five Personalities

The master suite occupies the upper deck, its king bed framed by large windows and a private balcony where lounge chairs face whatever the sea is doing that morning. Below, four more cabins span the upper and main decks: three are configured as doubles, one carries bunk beds suited to children or anyone who enjoys a climb. Each space is individually styled, east-meets-west in its references, with natural teak floors, air conditioning, flat-screen televisions, and interactive music systems throughout.

High ceilings and above-water positioning keep all five cabins naturally bright. Ample storage removes the compromises that come with living out of bags. Rascal was designed for extended passages, and the cabins feel like it, comfortable enough to be home for 10 nights without anyone feeling confined.

The anchorage is yours. No other vessel for 40 miles. The only decision is whether to dive first or just float for a while.

The Team

Meet the Crew

A crew that outnumbers her guests is unusual at this price point. It shows in the day-to-day: a captain who knows these waters personally, a PADI instructor who adjusts dive sites to guest experience levels, a chef following menus from Bali's Watercress kitchen, and a service team that pays attention to what guests actually want.
