Yacht Charter Costs in Indonesia
What a week actually costs, line by line.
Charter pricing in Indonesia is more transparent than most markets, but the headline rate is only part of the picture. Here is how the tiers break down, what sits inside the base rate, and which costs to plan for separately.
Charter Rate Tiers
Indonesia's charter fleet spans a wide range of vessels and price points. Rates are typically quoted per week and vary by yacht, season, and destination.
Indonesia's Finest (Superyachts)
The flagship tier. Vessels of 40 to 65 meters with 5 to 7 cabins, crews of 15 to 22, multiple dining areas, full spa services, and extensive water toy collections. These yachts set the standard for luxury in Indonesian waters.
Weekly rates: from approximately $87,000 to $160,000+
Vessels in this tier include Dunia Baru, Lamima, Vela, Silolona, and Si Datu Bua. Most accommodate 8 to 14 guests.
Family & Group Charters
Spacious yachts of 30 to 40 meters designed for comfort and versatility. Typically 4 to 5 cabins with dedicated dive equipment, generous deck space, and crews experienced with multi-generational groups.
Weekly rates: from approximately $70,000 to $110,000
Vessels like Rascal, Rebel, Celestia, and El Aleph fall in this range.
Couples & Small Groups
Intimate yachts of 30 to 36 meters with 2 to 3 cabins. Ideal for couples, honeymoons, or small friend groups who want privacy without the scale of a larger vessel. The crew-to-guest ratio on these yachts is often the highest in the fleet.
Weekly rates: from approximately $35,000 to $60,000
The Oracle, Senja, Dewata, and Nataraja operate at this level.
Expedition Vessels
Purpose-built for range and stability. These yachts access Indonesia's most remote destinations, from Cenderawasih Bay to the Banda Sea, carrying more fuel and provisions for extended passages.
Weekly rates: from approximately $70,000 to $160,000
Kudanil Explorer and The Seven Seas are the standout expedition platforms.

The flagship tier runs from roughly 40 to 65 meters, with crews of 15 to 22.
Rates vary by season. Komodo charters are typically 10 to 15% less during shoulder months (March, November). Raja Ampat rates are consistent during its shorter season (October through April). Ask us about current pricing for your specific dates.
What's Included in the Rate
Indonesia operates differently from Mediterranean or Caribbean charter markets. Inclusions are generally more generous here.
Typically Included
- The yacht and all onboard facilities
- Full crew (captain, chef, deckhands, dive guides where applicable)
- Standard water toys (snorkeling gear, kayaks, paddleboards)
- Basic fishing equipment
- Cabin linens, towels, and daily housekeeping
- Safety equipment and yacht insurance
Often Included (Varies by Yacht)
- All meals prepared by the onboard chef
- Non-alcoholic beverages (water, soft drinks, juices, coffee, tea)
- Laundry service
- WiFi (where satellite coverage allows)
Many Indonesian yachts include food and non-alcoholic drinks in the base charter rate. This is different from the APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) system used in the Mediterranean, where food and beverages are billed separately. We clarify inclusions for every yacht we recommend.

On most Indonesian charters, all meals and non-alcoholic drinks sit inside the base rate.
Additional Costs
These vary by yacht and itinerary. We provide a detailed estimate with every charter proposal so you know what to expect.
Fuel
Fuel costs depend on the yacht's engines, your itinerary distance, and how much time is spent under sail versus motor. A typical 7 to 10-night charter in Komodo runs $3,000 to $8,000 in fuel. Raja Ampat itineraries, which cover more distance, may run higher.
National Park Permits
Komodo National Park and Raja Ampat both require entry permits for all visitors. On private charters with Indo Yachts, all marine park fees are included in your charter costs. We handle the permits and paperwork; you do not need to arrange or pay for these separately.
Alcoholic Beverages
Some yachts include a standard bar selection. Others charge for alcohol at cost plus a service margin, or allow guests to purchase and bring their own. We will clarify the policy for your selected yacht.
Diving
If the yacht carries a dive center and instructor, dive equipment use is often included. Some yachts charge a per-dive supplement (typically $30 to $50 per dive) to cover air fills and instructor time. Nitrox, where available, is usually an additional charge.
Port Fees & Taxes
Harbor fees, domestic port clearances, and applicable taxes are typically additional. These are modest compared to European or Caribbean equivalents, usually totaling $500 to $2,000 for a 7 to 10-night charter.
Crew Gratuity
Tipping is customary and appreciated. The standard range is 5 to 15% of the base charter rate, at your discretion. Gratuities go directly to the crew. We provide guidance on appropriate amounts based on your yacht and charter length.

Fuel, permits, and diving supplements are estimated in writing before you sign.
Sample Budget Breakdown
To give a realistic picture, here is a range for a 7-night Komodo charter for 8 guests.
Mid-Range Example (Luxury Yacht)
- Charter rate: $70,000 to $90,000 (includes meals, non-alcoholic beverages, and park fees)
- Fuel: $4,000 to $6,000
- Beverages (alcohol): $1,000 to $3,000
- Diving supplements (if applicable): $1,500 to $3,000
- Port fees and taxes: $500 to $1,500
- Crew gratuity: $5,000 to $10,000
- Domestic flights (Bali to Labuan Bajo, 8 guests round trip): $2,000 to $3,000
- Estimated total: $84,000 to $116,500
- Per person: approximately $10,500 to $14,600
This works out to roughly $1,500 to $2,100 per person per night for an all-inclusive luxury yacht charter with private crew, gourmet meals, diving, and access to one of the most extraordinary marine environments on the planet.

For eight guests, a week in Komodo lands near $10,500 to $14,600 per person.
Compare this to a comparable week at a high-end dive resort in the region, including flights, premium room, dining, and guided diving. Private yacht charters are more expensive per night, but the access to remote sites, total privacy, and flexibility often make them better value for groups of 6 or more.
Ways to Optimize Value
Book as a Group
The single biggest factor in per-person cost is group size. A $70,000/week yacht split among 4 guests is $17,500 each. The same yacht with 8 guests is $8,750 each. Fill the cabins.
Consider Shoulder Season
Komodo in April or late October offers nearly identical conditions to peak season at lower rates. Many yachts offer 10 to 15% discounts during these months.
Choose the Right Yacht Size
A larger yacht is not always better. If your group is 4 to 6 guests, a well-appointed smaller yacht delivers a higher crew-to-guest ratio and a more intimate feel at a lower total cost. We will never recommend a yacht that is bigger than what your group needs.
Combine Destinations
One-way charters (Bali to Komodo, for example) can be more efficient than round trips, reducing fuel costs and maximizing time at anchor. The trade-off is a one-way domestic flight, which is inexpensive and easy to arrange.

Group size is the single biggest lever on per-person cost: fill the cabins.
Payment & Booking Terms
Standard Payment Schedule
- Deposit of 50% upon signing the charter agreement
- Remaining 50% due 60 days before embarkation
- Additional costs (fuel, provisions, permits) settled at the end of the charter or pre-estimated
Currencies
Charter rates are quoted in US dollars. Onboard expenses in Indonesia are settled in either USD or Indonesian Rupiah depending on the yacht. We handle all currency considerations.
Cancellation
Cancellation terms are defined in the charter agreement. Travel insurance with trip cancellation coverage is strongly recommended, particularly for charters booked many months in advance. We can recommend appropriate policies.
